DIVINE COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

Divine College of Management Studies Cochin was founded in November 2002 by Mr. George J Pulickal and Padmashree Thangam E Philip. In association with Sikkim Manipal University, Manipal and City & Guilds, London, the mission of Divine College Of Management Studies is to produce talented and skilled professionals to fit into the challenging hospitality industry of the 21st Century. Its Vision is to grow and become the best of its kind in the Hospitality education scenario.
LOCATION
Divine College of Management Studies has two campuses; one is located at M.G Road, Ravipuram, Cochin – 16, the nerve center of Cochin City with easy access to bus terminals & railway station. The other one is at S.C. Bose Road, Elamkulam, Cochin – 20. Classrooms are well furnished with modern amenities, practical laboratory facilities such as kitchen, restaurant etc. Free reading and computer facilities are provided in the well-stocked library. Cochin also called the queen of Arabian Sea is a highly popular industrial business centre and IT Capital Of Kerala. Its location along the western coast provides a graceful climate with moderately humid temperatures. The Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical & Technological Sciences, Gangtok is incorporated under the State Legislative Act (Act IX of 1995) of Government of Sikkim and is recognized by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The University is offering many Distance Education programmes as part of its effort to giving education to the masses and fulfills the growing demand for professionals.
CAREER GUIDANCE AND PLACEMENT
Placement assistance for deserving candidates will be provided in classified hotels. Placement is offered through campus recruitment interviews where selection will be based on technical and practical skills and good personality. A full-fledged counseling section is functioning in the institution which provide career guidance and placement for our eligible students. Further, Sikkim Manipal University is having its own Placement Cell, where-through jobs can be searched.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Admission to all the courses are open for both boys and girls. For prospectus and application form, please send Rs. 500/- by M.O / D.D in favour of Divine college of Management Studies, payable at Cochin.
Working Hours: 9.00 A.M to 5.30 P.M Monday to Saturday. Sundays are weekly-offs & other declared holidays are observed by the college as closed days.
PROCEDURES FOR ADMISSION
1. Prospects and application form to be obtained from the office against cash payment or D.D
2. Filled-in application forms should be submitted to the College office at Cochin before the stipulated date mentioned in the Admission notification.
3. Copies of following certificates are to be submitted along with the application:-
a) Qualifying examination marks card
b) Conduct Certificate
c) Passport and Visa in case of foreign students.
d) Residential permit and HIV certificate in case of foreign students.
e) Passport size photo – 12 Nos.
4. Selection for admission will be based on merit or marks / grades obtained in the qualifying examination followed by personal interview / counseling.
5. Selected candidates should submit the originals of all the certificates and pay the prescribed fees at the time of admission. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of admission.
6. Admission is made by the College provisionally and the same is subject to approval by the University / Professional Body.
HOUSE RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. The medium of instruction is English.
2. Fee once paid will on no account be refunded. In case of students discontinuing studies with the institute, the full course fee should be cleared before NOC/TC is issued.
3. Student's ID card will be issued to all from the College, which the students should carry always in the college premises.
4. Uniform: All students of Management studies are required to attend the college in prescribed uniform.
5. No visitors or phone calls shall be entertained during class hours, except in exigencies. Message can be left at the office.
6. All outstanding dues should be settled by the students on or before the stipulated dates as specified by the College Authorities.
7. Fees or any other payment should be made to the College directly.
8. Industrial training is part of the curriculum, which the students shall have to attend, whenever they are sent to the hotels chosen by the College.
9. As part of the curriculum students have to take part in all indoor and outdoor catering functions directed by the management.
10. Students are responsible to uphold the name and goodwill of the College at hostel, training place or at any other social and public functions.
11. Students should submit the assignments, records and projects on time in the formats prescribed by the University / Professional Body and as directed by the Faculty members.
12. Certificates of the students, kept by the management will be handed over to the students only after the complete settlement of fee dues, if any, on the date of leaving.
13. The College holds no claim for bus, train and boat concessions.
14. Any legal dispute or litigation will be at Ernakulam jurisdiction.
15. A caution deposit of Rs. 1500/- has to be paid at the time of admission and the same is refundable on the completion of the course after deducting dues, if any.
16. Divine College of Management Studies reserves the right to add or delete the contents of this prospectus at any time.
17. The location and the premises for classes shall be decided by the College Authorities.
FACULTY
We have a group of well qualified and dedicated teaching staff and visiting faculty with high level of experience. To assess the performance, Class tests are conducted regularly. Hotel Management Students are being sent to selected Five Star hotels for training for hands on exposure to the Industry. We also keep in constant contact with the classified hotels to learn more about the latest trends in the Industry, so that we are able to blend the same in our teaching and training.
